Andhra Pradesh is a eighth largest state of India, situated on the Southeastern coast of the country. Present status of the state comes into force with effect from 2 June 2014. On the date a new state Telangana formed in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation  Act, 2014. Hyderabad will remain the combined capital of both Andhra Pradesh & Telangana states for a period of time not exceeding 10 years.  The new river-front proposed capital of Andhra Pradesh will be Amaravati, situated in Guntur district. The state is divided into two regions - Coastal Andhra & Rayalaseema. It has a total of 13 districts- 9 in Coastal Andhra and 4 in Rayalaseema. These thirteen districts are further divided into 49 revenue divisions and they are in turn divided into 664 Mandals. Chittoor district has the most number of mandals (66) and Srikakulam district has the least number of mandals(38).
