Job Details :
Railway Ticket Collector (TC) commonly known as TTE (Travelling Ticket Examiner) is one of the front line staff of Indian Railway having a first level interface with the passengers.
The tasks a Ticket Collector, Railway expected to perform include:
Examining and collecting tickets of passengers
Checking excess luggage or unauthorized articles
Collecting duty chart from Station Master and reporting for duty in prescribed uniform displaying identification badge and taking position at gate or platform as required.
Checking tickets from persons entering or leaving platform.
Clipping tickets of incoming passengers boarding trains and collecting tickets from outgoing passengers as appropriate.
Checking and verifying badly dated or undated and blank paper tickets and maintaining their records.
Handing over luggage, horse, carriage and dog tickets if any to Parcel Clerk.
Reporting for duty at scheduled time in prescribed uniform displaying identification badge.
Required Qualification :
The minimum educational qualification needed for the post is 10th standard pass or equivalent.
The age limit of the candidate must be 18-25 years. Age relaxation is available as per government norms.
Pay Scale & Other Benefits :
In the old pay scale (6th CPC) the post of Ticket Collector has 1900/- Grade Pay in Pay Band-I.
In the revised Pay Scale recommended by the Seventh Central Pay Commission, Entry Pay for the post is 19900/-
Careers :
Normally a person who holds the post of Ticket Collector is promoted to the following higher posts.
Senior Ticket Collector/ Traveling Ticket Examiner
Head Ticket Collector/ Senior Traveling Ticket Examiner
Traveling Ticket Inspector/ Conductor
Chief Ticket Inspector
Ticket Collectors are also eligible for being considered for promotion as Goods Guards and Enquiry-cum-Reservation Clerks as per procedure laid down for filling up post in these categories.
